President

Claudia Powell brings over 20 years of professional experience in the fields of interior design and interior architecture. Ms. Powell received her classical architectural training at The Institute for Classical Architecture in New York, served on the faculty for The Classical Institute, received her interior design training at F.I.T. in New York City, and has worked as a senior design consultant for a number of major interior design firms in New York, including Bunny Williams, Inc. and Mark Hampton, Inc., and also in Washington, D.C., with Thomas Pheasant, Inc. and Franck & Lohsen Architects.

Ms. Powell has been involved with many medium- and large-scale projects around the United States, encompassing high-end residential, institutional, and commercial spaces. She covers all aspects of interior design, from creation of initial concepts and schematics to supervision of final installation. She has a deep knowledge of historical interiors, antiques, color theory, proportion, and fabric. Ms. Powell has also provided design consultation and working drawings for residential projects comprising custom furniture, window treatments, and floor and wall coverings.

Ms. Powell’s largest completed project is the Executive Administration Center at Boston University. This 72,000-square-foot new interior space encompasses the top two floors of 595 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. Ms. Powell worked as the Classical Architectural Designer, providing elevations, reflected ceiling plans, floor plans, and furniture plans, and created hundreds of woodwork detail drawings for the project. Designed within a Classical architectural vocabulary, the space provides private office for the Executives of Boston University and their administration staff. The public rooms include: a two-story mahogany paneled reception area with grand staircase, Presidential dining room, ballroom with multi-media capabilities, board room lounge, portrait gallery and multiple conference rooms.

Ms. Powell maintained a private consulting practice in interiors in New York City for five years prior to relocating to the Washington D.C. area in 2003. Before engaging in interior design, she enjoyed a 10-year career as a professional opera singer in the United States and Europe.
